Electric grippers are becoming more popular for applications that require high speeds and for those requiring light or moderate grip forces. Electric is also cleaner than either pneumatic or hydraulic and, therefore, electric grippers are very effective for handling products such as circuit boards or other dust sensitive products

Another major advantage of electric powered grippers is control. A microprocessor can be added to an electric gripping system which can be made to vary clamping force and velocity. This can be done at little additional cost, making the gripper able to cope with a variety of sizes and shapes and reducing the need to change grippers to accommodate different types of parts.

SAS Automation is pleased to offer both electric grippers and pneumatic grippers to provide our customers with options to more closely meet your manufacturing requirements

Allied Group's new type of coalescing filter is constructed of three layers. The inner and outer layer act as a built-in pre-filter, according to flow. This is also the drain layer and support layers. The middle layer, "binder free" borosilicate fiber/microglass, is the coalescing portion of the filter. The pre-filter removes large quantities of dirt particles before entering the coalescing part, thereby increasing the life of the filter. Efficiencies range from 93% to 99.9999% at the 0.3 micron range and rated to over 5000 psi.The pre-filter can be constructed with microns from 1 to 75. We will custom design for new applications or cross reference competitive filters for existing applications.

We manufacture filters for the OEM market, engine converstion market and aftermarket. Filters are used for trucks, buses, cars and small engines. We have the capabilities to manufacture cng filters for all natural gas applications. Applications include any area where oil and water droplets need to be coalesced and removed: CNG and NGV markets, compressed air lines, natural gas transmission lines.

We have the capability to utilize borosilicate, fiberglass, paper or sintered metal technology.

Physical sizes range from ½" x ½" to over 72" long and 6" on the O.D. We can retrofit existing housings, manufacture to a customers specification or cross reference existing filters.

For use in clearance or threaded holes, the Cordgrips provide the durability of a nickel plated brass enclosure with drastically lower installed cost and more secure wire gripping with a nylon finger design. Hybrid Cordgrips make it possible to insert different diameters of cable in the same cable gland easily, with flexibility, and with a good seal.

Available in multiple sizes for flexible cord diameters ranging from .04" (1,0 mm) to 2.17" ( 55,0 mm), the moveable articulated fingers provide large clamping and sealing areas for secure and flexible everyday use. Upon tightening the compression nut of the cordgrip, the segmented finger design compresses around the gland and wire to provide a torsion proof seal. The Cordgrips are IP68 rated, and the nickel plated finish over brass provides excellent corrosion resistance and durability. The sealing gland is molded in Thermoplastic Polymer Elastomer (TPE) material for maximum flexibility. Metal locknuts are not included.

After explaining good study habits and what it takes to succeed, Moaveni then prepares them for success with an introduction to design and problem solving, communication, and ethics. Once this foundation is established, the book moves on to the basic physical concepts and laws students will encounter regularly as engineering students. The text emphasizes that engineers apply physical and chemical laws and principles as well as mathematics to design, test, and supervise the production of millions of parts, products, and services that people use everyday. By gaining problem solving skills and an understanding of fundamental principles, students are on their way to becoming analytical, detail-oriented, and creative engineers.'

Eden Prairie, Minnesota: Now there's a better In-House method for bulk blackening
aluminum fasteners and hardware. LUMICLAD is the new, zero-discharge process that forms a protective, non-dimensional black oxide finish on all aluminum surfaces.
LUMICLAD is clean, durable and tightly adherent to the metal substrate. It is ideal for all types of fasteners - perfect for flat buttons, t-nuts, fluid connections, eye bolts, hex nuts, handles, - all varieties of aluminum fasteners and hardware including metric and standard sizes.

LUMICLAD forms a uniform coating thickness of .000060 inches (1.5 micron) on
aluminum fastener surfaces. It will not close down hole diameters, change or clog thread dimensions even when applied to the smallest sizes. In addition, the LUMICLAD finish has an inherent lubricity that can aid in fastener operation.

Compared to black anodizing, LUMICLAD provides a number of advantages. It is a
proven 30-minute process without the operating complexities of anodizing. LUMICLAD contains no EPA regulated chemicals, so there usually is no need for waste treatment as is the case with anodizing. In most sewer districts, the rinse waters are considered sewerable as non-hazardous effluent. This feature simplifies installation and minimizes the capital investment to set up an inhouse process line.

The unique, patent-pending LUMICLAD process utilizes a conventional immersion tank
process line. It is easy and safe to operate so that fastener manufacturers can operate it inhouse themselves, thereby eliminating the need for outside processing. For most applications, a seven-tank line and a 30-minute process time does the job from start to finish.

Pumping fluids which contain abrasive particles, such as those found in inks and paints can have a detrimental effect on pump performance with erosion being a key factor in reducing pump life. With these challenging fluids in mind MICHAEL SMITH ENGINEERS has introduced the White Ink pump, the latest addition to the MICROPUMP range

This modified GJ series Micropump was originally designed for ink jet applications and has the ability to cope with titanium pigmented inks, (those containing 7 micron titanium particles). The pump's key wetted components have been effectively 'armour plated' so they are able to withstand corrosive and abrasive fluids. For solvent based fluids, the White Ink pump features metal gears with ceramic shafts and a pump head of specially hardened stainless steel. For water based fluids, the hardened stainless steel body parts are titanium coated to overcome any possible corrosion issues.

These compact and lightweight, leakfree magnet drive gear pumps are designed to provide flow rates of around 3 lit/min, can generate a maximum differential pressure of 5.6 Bar and can be operated on liquids with viscosities up to 1500 cP at temperatures up to 100ºC.

The external gear design ensures smooth, pulse-free and highly accurate output, so the distribution of process fluids is even and constant, as opposed to the more unpredictable pulsed flows from other types of pump.

Novi, Michigan, USA - Kistler (www.kistler.com), a worldwide supplier of precision sensors, systems and instrumentation for the dynamic measurement of pressure, force, torque and acceleration, has introduced the Type 4550A KiTorq rotor torque flange measuring unit.

Featuring an accuracy class of 0.05, the bearing and slip-ring free design of the Kistler Type 4550A KiTorq system consists of a combination of both the Type 455x KiTorq rotary torque measuring unit and the Type 454x KiTorq stator torque evaluation unit. Both rotors and stators within the KiTorq system with the same speed option may be used in any combination with one another. The rotor may also be purchased individually, or as part of a fully calibrated torque measurement chain, together with a KiTorq stator. The stator automatically detects a change in the rotor and then automatically sets required measurement parameters.

All KiTorq rotors capture torque using strain gages (DMS), with their generated signal amplified and then processed at approximately 35 kSample. This high-speed scanning rate means that widely dynamic torque parameters can be measured to high degrees of accuracy and repeatability. In addition, various calibration options are available for the configurable output signals of the KiTorq system. All calibrations are conducted within a high-precision calibration system that is fully traceable to recognized standards.

The Kistler Type 4550A KiTorq system is ideal for the support of high-precision dynamic torque measurements within test bench engineering applications, including those most common to electric motors, gears, pumps and combustion engine test stands.
